The Plant / Manufacturing Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations, planning, coordination, and quality control of the entire manufacturing process within the assigned plant(s). The role ensures that customer quality requirements are met, production schedules are delivered on time, plant facilities operate efficiently, and safety and compliance standards are upheld. This includes managing workforce planning, supply chain support, cost control, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and workplace harmony.Operations
  • Lead daily plant operations to ensure production output, cost efficiency, and customer requirements are consistently met.
  • Optimize plant facilities processes through upgrading, scheduled and preventive maintenance to minimize plant downtime.
  • Implement best practices in low-waste manufacturing, root cause analysis, and resource optimization.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, R&D, and Quality Assurance on new enquiries, product / sample development, and downgauging initiatives.
  • Ensure effective communication between production teams, customers, and cross-functional departments.
  • Review and monitor plant’s KPIs (OEE, yield, downtime, spoilage, cost control) and prepare and present performance reports for Senior management review.
  • Oversee inventory control, space utilization, and spare parts management to maintain optimum levels.
  • Lead the Plant Safety Committee and drive proactive safety reviews, corrective actions, and incident reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO, QMS, FSSC, and customer audits/certification requirements.
  • Empower teams to apply standardized work practices across shifts and collaborate with Engineering to improve manufacturability and productivity.
Strategic Planning & Execution:
  • Develop and execute plant strategies in alignment with company objectives.
  • Lead capacity planning, resource allocation, and capital investment to support business growth.
  • Drive cost reduction, waste minimization, and productivity improvement programs.
  • Establish Key Responsibility Areas (KRAs) and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to align tactical plans with long-term strategic goals.
Stakeholder Communication and Collaboration
  • Maintain effective communication with internal stakeholders (Sales, Engineering, QA, HR) to ensure smooth operations.
  • Liaise with senior management, suppliers, and customers to align plant performance with business needs.
  • Provide timely reporting of unusual plant activities and operational updates to Directors.
  • Build strong internal and external stakeholder relationships to support operational effectiveness.
Strategic Planning & Execution:
  • Develop and execute operational strategies aligned with company goals.
  • Drive cost reduction, waste minimization, and productivity improvement programs.
  • Lead capacity planning, resource allocation, and capital investment decisions.
  • Develop Key Responsibilities Area(s) according to the Mid-long term strategy, and , and Monitor Key Performance Indicator(s) (KPIs) to ensure Tactical plan are towards the main objective
People Management
  • Build and lead a motivated production team(s) capable of delivering consistent results.
  • Foster a safety-first, quality-focused, and accountable workplace culture.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop supervisors and staff; implement performance management systems.
  • Collaborate with HR on training calendars (upskilling, refresher, newcomer training) and succession planning.
  • Conduct regular skills gap analysis and promote multi-skilling for sustainable plant operations.
  • Maintain workplace harmony by addressing grievances fairly and promoting social compliance.
Continuous Improvement
  • Lead and support cross-departmental improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve quality.
  • Conduct root cause investigations to resolve production inefficiencies, downtime, and quality issues.
  • Drive innovation, process excellence, and ESG initiatives to meet and exceed customer expectations.
Team leadership & Development
  • As the role model to foster a culture of integrity, accountability,
  • An advocate to encourage and drive innovation, and continual process improvement
  • Manage, coach, mentor, and motivate a cross-functional team including technical, production, maintenance, engineering, and logistics.
  • Working with internal stakeholder including Human Resources to address workplace’s issues and employees’ grievances to ensure workplace harmony,
  • Plan and conduct with HR Department annual calendar for training:
  • Upskills Training.
  • Refresher/Newcomer Training.
  • Business excellence with succession in mind to formula optimum day-to-day to ensure operations with buddies or seniors to guide junior plan,
  • Regularly conduct gap analysis and employee skill inventory check on status of multiskills talents
  • Facilitate knowledge transfer pipeline to ensure sustainable plant operation
  • Champion of sustainable plant operation to exceed customers’ ESG expectations.
Safety, Health & Environment (SHE)
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, FSSC, and relevant EHS regulations.
  • Implement and maintain 5S practices, QMS, and EHSMS across plant operations.
  • Monitor and enforce workplace safety protocols, stop unsafe acts, and report non-conformities.
  • Safeguard safe warehouse operations and ensure adherence to environmental protection standards.
  • Support QMS, FSSC and EHSMS policies and programs
  • Safety, Health & Environment Protocol:
o Stop any observed unsafe acts, and obey facility EHS rules and procedureso Correct or report any observed EHSMS non-conformities.SHERequirements
  • Independent, self-motivated and strong leadership skills.
  • Candidate must possess at least Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Production)
  • Min 5 years’ in Managerial position in an manufacturing environment.
  • Experience and resourceful in technical and engineering related issues.
  • Experience in preventive maintenance, maintenance management and production management.
  • Required language(s): Bahasa Malaysia, English.
  • Good interactive, writing and good communication skills.
  • Possess a high regard for safety in workplace.
