- Be an exemplary role model in inspiriting team members through strong demonstration of the Capella Culture and Service Philosophy.
- Performs opening and closing shift duties, which includes preparation of mis-en-place, polishing of operating supplies (i.e. glassware, chinaware etc.) ensuring proper storage and count of operating equipment and supplies at the end of the day.
- Have a thorough understanding and knowledge of all food and beverage items in the menu and the ability to recommend Food & Beverage pairings and proactively upsell or offer alternatives to maximise sales.
- Up-sell or promote all specials advertised in the room service menu as well as promoting slow moving items.
- Have a full knowledge of the food & beverage items & their specifications, menu prices, recipes and style of service etc.
- Track most saleable items to give feedback to management. Proactively upsell menu items to drive profit generation for the department.
- Delivers guest food orders in a timely manner. Offer to provide guests a description of the selected items, following the departmental service protocols. Communicates options for removal of trays, responds to request for tray removal according to established time standards, and accurately closes guest checks.
- Check in with guests should situation allows to gather feedback and ensures satisfaction with each food course and/or beverages.
- Present physical and accurate check to guest and complete the payment process.
- Handling complaints and resolving service 'Glitches', keep a record of all feedbacks under the appropriate system. Ensures that the issues are resolved in a timely manner to guests' satisfaction.
- Assists the higher management in updating the Standard Operating Procedures in accordance to the hotel standards and business level by suggesting improvements to improve efficiency of work and performance.
- Report any issue or damages and breakdowns within working areas and the hotel to ensure a defect-free facilities and service amenities provided.
- Ensured that room service carts and trays were properly stacked and transported. Picked up trays en route back to station and during slow periods.
- Responsible for maintaining inventory supplies, ensures that all supplies are properly stored at the right temperature, preventing wastage due to pilferage and poor inventory management
- Maintain cleanliness of work areas, chinaware, glassware, etc., throughout the day.
- Recognizes the importance of LQA and Forbes standards as to deliver excellent audit and service performance.
- Maintains strong working relationships with other departments to ensure effective communications for operational issues, serves as a role model for inter-departmental collaboration and support
- Complies strictly to all departmental operating standards, policies and procedures set by the hotel.
- Assists in shift coverage when required to ensure smooth operation.
- Diploma/ Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, specializing in beverage service/restaurant management is of advantage.
- Experiences in similar role at luxury hotels/resort
- Working alcohol service knowledge (i.e. wine service)
- Good command of written and spoken English
