The teaching assistant will work with faculty members and students to provide and support teaching and teaching-related activities. This position will improve students’ problem-solving skills and develop their expertise to excel in their future careers. The specific tasks of this position are semester-based and course-based. The details are often discussed and agreed before the semester start.Reports to: Program Manager, PsychologyKEY ACCOUNTIBILITIESPrepare and grade assessmentsReinforce lessons presented by teachers by reviewing material with students one-on-one or in small groupsSupport in-class activities as part of tutorial/ practical sessions under the supervision of the Course Coordinator and/or class instructorPrepare and run training workshops for students as required by the school and programParticipate in school and program-related activities as required by the school and programOUR REQUIREMENTSMaster degree in the relevant discipline; having commenced or enrolled to commence in a Doctoral program is preferredDemonstrated capacity to work effectively with and to negotiate sensitively with students especially on issues related to effective learningDemonstrable knowledge of requisite content, psychological research, and writing skills for courses taught within undergraduate Psychology programsAbility to explain complex ideas and concepts in a way easy to increase understanding and comprehensionExcellent communication skillsStrong interpersonal skills with the ability to listen well, motivate and encourageAbility to display appropriate behaviours in line with the position, as per the RMIT Behavioural Capability FrameworkHOW TO APPLYTo be considered for this role, it is mandatory to submit both a resume and a cover letter.
