Your role will involve supervising transaction processing across various instruments such as trade loans, supply chain financing solutions, factoring arrangements, bank guarantees, letter of credit, standby letters of credit, import/export bills with or without letters of credit, among others. You will manage workload allocation within your team while providing mentorship that supports staff development. Acting as process owner for operational risk management means you will ensure robust internal controls are maintained at all times. Your responsibilities extend to conducting AML screenings on transactions and driving digitalisation projects that streamline processes. Collaboration is key; you will work closely with front office colleagues, compliance professionals, regional partners, and other departments to guarantee smooth execution of tasks. Supporting audits and regulatory inspections forms part of your remit alongside preparing reports for senior management or regulatory bodies. Success in this role requires meticulous attention to detail combined with strong organisational skills so that every aspect of trade finance operations is handled efficiently under tight deadlines.
Oversee the daily operations of all trade finance transactions such as trade loans, supply chain financing, factoring, discounting, bank guarantees, letter of credit, standby letters of credit, shipping guarantees, import and export bills both with and without letters of credit.
Supervise transaction processing within the team to prevent operational errors and mitigate financial loss by maintaining rigorous internal controls.
Manage workload allocation among staff members while nurturing their development through coaching and guidance.
Act as process owner for internal controls and operational risk management within the trade finance service team, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Conduct to cross-check all finance transactions as assigned.
Conduct anti-money laundering (AML) and sanction screening on all trade finance transactions to uphold compliance standards.
Drive process optimisation and digitalisation initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency and accuracy within the department.
Coordinate effectively with front office teams, related departments, compliance units, and regional counterparts to facilitate seamless operation and delivery of services.
Closely work with internal and external audits as well as stakeholders to ensure that all Trade Finance-related documentation, clarifications, and action plans are completed accurately and submitted within the required timelines.
Ensure correct interpretation of local regulations, internal procedures, and international practices in trade finance operations.
Prepare detailed reports for submission to relevant authorities including the State Bank of Vietnam, head office management, or other stakeholders as required.
What you bring:To excel as an Assistant Vice President in Trade Finance Operations you should bring substantial experience gained from at least ten years working within banking industry environments focused on trade finance products. Your deep technical expertise must span areas such as bank guarantees, letters of credit, standby LCs export/import bills, supply chain financing, factoring discounting mechanisms among others. Familiarity with international standards including ICC rules (UCP ISBP URR URC URDG ISP Incoterms) is essential alongside solid understanding local regulatory frameworks governing these products. Operational risk management forms a core part your skillset complemented by thorough knowledge compliance requirements internal control systems relevant banking context. Experience conducting AML screenings sanctions checks adds further value especially when combined CDCS certification which although not mandatory would distinguish you from other applicants. Proven track record managing teams guiding them through intricate operational scenarios whilst maintaining high levels accuracy responsibility is vital; excellent interpersonal abilities allow you coordinate effectively across departments stakeholders ensuring smooth workflow throughout organisation. Academic credentials should include university degree relevant discipline plus proficiency Microsoft Office suite strong command English both written spoken.
Deep expertise in trade finance operations covering products such as bank guarantees, letters of credit (LC), standby LCs (SBLC), export/import bills both with and without LC involvement, trade loans, supply chain financing solutions including factoring and discounting.
Comprehensive knowledge of international trade practices along with familiarity with ICC rules like UCP 600, ISBP 821, URR 745, URC 522, URDG 758, ISP 98 plus Incoterms 2020.
Solid understanding of local regulatory requirements governing bank guarantees, LCs, discounting mechanisms, factoring arrangements and other trade-related products.
Strong foundation in operational risk management principles coupled with awareness of compliance standards and internal control frameworks relevant to banking operations.
Proficiency in anti-money laundering (AML) protocols as well as sanction screening specific to trade finance transactions.
CDCS certification is preferred but not mandatory; candidates holding this qualification will be highly regarded.
Minimum ten years’ experience working within trade finance operations in the banking sector demonstrating proven managerial or supervisory capabilities.
Ability to guide teams through complex operational challenges while managing workloads efficiently even under pressure situations.
Excellent communication skills enabling effective coordination across multiple stakeholders including front office teams regional counterparts compliance units etc.
High attention to detail accuracy sense of responsibility combined with strong teamwork spirit willingness to collaborate across functions well-organised logical thinker capable of meeting tight deadlines university degree in banking finance foreign trade economics or related fields proficiency in Microsoft Office good command English written spoken.
