The role will ensure SSET labs are well maintained and organized so that students have access to equipment which is in good working order to complete projects in compliance with laboratory rules and guidelines. This position also provides high-level technical support to staff and students in the safe operation and use of our equipment and facilities.Reports to: Supervisor, Technical ServicesIn direct report to: APM and SPM, Information Technology & Software EngineeringKey AccountabilitiesOperate Windows/Mac/Linux computers and other electronic equipment (Elvis, Adruino boards, 3D printers, Oscilloscope, Multimeter, PASCO, Terasic DE10, etc.).Provide technical support to students in development, operation and safe use of engineering equipment.Maintain laboratories and laboratory equipment in a ready, serviceable, clean and safe condition to aid the Schools educational activities.Staying updated with the latest developments in relevant technologies and OHS guidelines.Other duties as determined by line manager and SPMs (event, logistics, hybrid meetings support, etc.).Key Selection CriteriaA Bachelor’s degree or Final year student in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, or Robotics Engineering, or in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Information Technology.Experience in managing or operating an engineering or academic laboratory is highly desirable.Experience with ELVIS/Arduino boards and 3D printers is advantageous.Strong general technical knowledge and practical skills, including soldering and basic electronic circuit design.Proficiency in using Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems.Well-developed interpersonal skills, including cross-cultural communication and effective business writing skills.Additional InformationContract duration: 06 monthsWorkload: 20 hours per weekHighly competitive gross salaryAnnual leave: 1 day per working monthAccident Insurance 24/7Free use of on-site sports and fitness facilitiesLibrary on campus and online - access to the RMIT Australia online libraryHOW TO APPLYTo be considered for this role, it is mandatory to submit both a resume and a cover letter.
