Were on the hunt for a Senior Backend Engineer who thrives at the intersection of scalable systems and modern AI-enhanced development.This role isn't just about writing clean Java code (though thats part of it). Its about shaping the future of our backend architecture, leading and mentoring engineers, and integrating cutting-edge AI tools to streamline workflows, improve code quality, and accelerate delivery.You'll work cross-functionally with product, design, and frontend teams to build engaging online experiences for players around the world. And youll help foster a backend culture that values experimentation, automation, and continuous learning.What You will Do:Lead the design and development of robust backend systems and services using Java.Build and maintain scalable microservices, leveraging AI-assisted tooling to reduce bugs and speed up development.Regularly use tools like GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Windsurf, or similar to optimize your own workflowsand help others do the same.Drive best practices in test-driven development, observability, and CI/CD, incorporating AI-powered test generation and monitoring.Mentor and manage backend engineers, supporting both technical growth and a strong team culture.Lead architectural decisions and perform code reviews with an AI-augmented approach.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and deliver impactful features.Stay current with AI and backend trends, introducing valuable tools and practices to the team.Youre a Great Fit If You Have:7+ years of backend development experience, including 2+ years in a leadership or team lead role.A strong history of using AI tools to improve engineering productivity and software quality.Experience shipping backend features to live environments.A solid foundation in Java and familiarity with modern backend architecture.Strong communication skills, with a knack for simplifying technical topics and guiding decisions.A mindset that values efficiency, automation, and lifelong learning.️ Bonus Points For Experience With:Languages & Frameworks: Java 11/17, Spring Boot 2/3Infrastructure: Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, Google CloudMonitoring & Observability: Prometheus, Grafana, ELKData Stores: NoSQL, in-memory databasesCI/CD & Tooling: GitHub Actions, Gradle, AnsibleGame Development: Unity / C#AI Workflows: GenAI tools for test generation, code review, or logs summarizationBonus: Exposure to blockchain-based servicesWhy Join Us?Were an inclusive and diverse team with a shared mission: to build games and experiences that delight players worldwide.
